Her family was able to know about her detention since they witnessed her arrest by the MSS. There was no official notice. After a trial done for formality only, semi-trial, she was transferred to a Political Prison Camp.

About 6 months before the arrest, she was investigated for helping an older lady escape North Korea. The older lady carried a photo of Kim Il-sung with her. The victim was released after 15 days of investigation
